The British Confraternity of Catholic Clergy, in collaboration with St. Anthony Communications, has released a DVD in support of marriage, the family, and the Church's traditional teaching on human sexuality.
A spokesman said, “The DVD is launched at a time when much discussion and controversy has arisen over marriage and the family in preparation for the forthcoming October Synod on the Family.”
“While not directly addressing the Synod, the DVD deals with matters pertinent to these discussions. It is also released when Ireland has just voted to allow same sex ‘marriage' and a number of churchmen are calling for recognition of same-sex unions.”
Cardinal Burke - Bishop Mark Davies
"With contributions from Cardinal Raymond Burke, Bishop Mark Davies of Shrewsbury, and Westminster Director of Marriage and Family, Edmund Adamus, the 40 minute presentation does not shy away from tackling some of the most challenging topics such as cohabitation, homosexuality, divorce and re-marriage."
“In addition to senior clerics, the presentation features lay experts and married couples who speak in support of the Church's teaching from their own experience.”
A spokesman for the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy said, “The DVD
responds to the call of the Holy Father to support marriage and the family currently challenged and misunderstood. We offer this modern media tool of the New Evangelization, as a service to the Church, for parish viewing, for marriage preparation and for general catechesis.”
The content is just basic Catholic teaching which everyone has a right to hear. It is a clear, unambiguous and bold presentation, but always given with charity and without polemics. Now is not the time for hiding the true and beautiful vision of marriage and the family for the healing of our societies.”
Cardinal Burke is a co-author the the highly-acclaimed book Remaining in the Truth of Christ: Marriage and Communion in the Catholic Church
How to Order a copy
St Anthony Communications, which specialises in catechetical video presentations, said "the production is a chance to set out the often hidden Catholic teaching in a simple and accessible way. The DVD explains why we teach what we teach, to offset confusion caused by inadequate and diluted teaching in the past, and offer hope for the future."
