PICTURE SPECIAL - The Birmingham Oratory "Seven Churches Walk"
A special walking pilgrimage visiting seven Birmingham churches took place on Saturday 19th March.
The "Seven Churches Walk" Pilgrimage started at 12.00 noon by praying the Angelus at the Oratory.
Pilgrims then made their way to the Parish Church of St Catherine of Sienna, where they were warmly welcomed by Parish Priest Father Jeremy Howard. Here, Stations 1 & 2 were prayed.
Then it was on to St Chad's Cathedral, entering through the Holy Door of Mercy. Here Stations 3 & 4 were prayed.
After a short break for refreshment (all had bought packed lunches) the party walked to St Francis' RC Church in Handsworth, where before entering the main church to pray the next two stations, a short visit was made to the Adoration Chapel.
Then it was a but short few footsteps along the road for Stations 7 & 8 in St Mary's Convent where the sisters provided some welcome refreshment.
Then it was time for the relatively long walk to St Patrick's Church which, regretably, was closed. Undaunted, the pilgrims prayed outside the church in front of the crucifix.
Then onwards to Paul's Convent for Stations 11 & 12, where we also were given a really nice cup of tea/coffee.
Just a short walk, and everyone was back at the Oratory to pray the last two Stations, before retiring to the Lower Cloister Hall for refreshment and then home.
