New Ordinariate Missal used for first time in Wolverhampton
The New Ordinariate Missal was used for the first time at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour RC Church on Sunday
Before the Mass, which was according to the Ordinariate Rite, Father Lungley led the congregation in singing the Angelus.
Sung Mass then followed.
The Ordinariate's Eucharistic Liturgy, which had initially circulated privately, was approved in May this year as an authentic part of the Roman Rite.
Pope Benedict created the Ordinariate nearly five years ago to allow Anglicans to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church whilst retaining much of their heritage and traditions.
Frather John Lungley, Priest of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham and Pastor of the Black Country Group said, "Many Catholics discovered what getting used to a new missal was like in 2011. Now members of the Ordinariate are going through it all again! "
"The Black Country Group, with its friends and supporters, made a good start last Sunday, but the task continues."
"We trust the Church to be that wise steward Our Lord talks about, bringing from the storehouse treasures both new and old."
