4th September, 2013 Kingstanding Youth visit Walsingham Shrine
During the Bank Holiday weekend, a group of young people from Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Kingstanding, Birmingham, spent their time at England's National Catholic Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham as part of the Youth 2000 festival.
Parish Priest Father Eamonn Corduff explained, "Our group of 31 including two Missionaries of Charity were at Walsingham to experience their first Youth 2000 festival."
"We hired two school minibuses: Christ the King primary and Cardinal Wiseman secondary. Despite the delays on the journey there and the thunderstorm on Friday night the young people and adults encountered the love of God."
"The weekend inspired the young people to restart the youth choir and one of our group gave a testimony at the close of the festival. Most of our regular youth group people were there and the prayers, songs and liturgy deepened their faith in Jesus, present in the Blessed Sacrament."
"There were opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation which many availed of."
"The weekend has given a spiritual lift to our parish."
